Status on Projects  

The Contractor is working to complete the punchlist by 27 FEB 09 including items in the building and those identified by NCDOT, Durham Public Works, USACOE and the civil engineer for the site. The Certificate of Occupancy will be issued once the elevator has been approved by the NC Department of Insurance. Due to inclement weather, the playgrounds will be completed the week of 23 FEB 09. The school’s Dedication is scheduled for 24 FEB 09. Final Completion is pending punchlist work that may be impacted by recent business failures of two subcontractors scheduled to complete site improvements. DPS is working with all agencies to determine the best way forward. We are seeking final completion (project close-out) by 15 APR 09.

Furniture repairs were completed 09 FEB 09; Virco will provide replacements for damaged furniture; no confirmed schedule yet. Quotes for additional furniture were requested and a purchase order completed on 13 FEB 09 for folding chairs needed in the Multipurpose Room for assembly purposes. Additional furniture purchases are within the specified project budget.

The traffic engineer completed the signal warrant analysis and preliminary signal plan considering wood poles for the initial installation in July 2009 (intersection of Sherron Road and Northern Durham Parkway). The signal warrant analysis did meet one warrant, the AM peak hour. The engineer expects that the NCDOT Division Traffic Engineer (Steve Johnson) may not allow the signal. The report has been submitted to NCDOT with a request to meet.
